Google UX Design Certificate Course (An Honest Review)
User Experience (UX) design explores how users interact products (physical and digital). The goal is to design products that are efficient, intuitive and minimizes frustration for the user.
UX is an industry that has always intrigued me. As someone who dabbles in graphic design and has experience creating websites, I was aware of UX, but not engaged. UX/UI was like that friend of a friend that I knew existed, but never really talked to. I decided to change that by signing up for the Google UX Design Certificate Program. Because of this class, I am glad to share that UX is becoming one of my best friends.
This course is highly organized. The creators did an excellent job structuring the classes in a way that makes it easy for beginners to grasp the concepts. In short, you are taken through the process of creating various apps and websites. With each project, you are guided through the design process (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test). Trust me, you will have this process MEMORIZED by the end of the course.
The program provides a plethora of external resources (articles, books and design kits) to help students with their projects. It is through these resources that the world of UX was blown wide open for me. Even though I’ve completed the program, the learning does not end. I still have a long way to grow as a UX designer. The resources provided in this program serves as a launching pad for anyone who wants to succeed in this field.
At the end of the program, you would have created multiple case studies to use in your portfolio. The program is designed to set you up for entry level jobs in the field of UX design. The course provides tips and resources to help with finding a job if changing careers is a goal. Overall, I would highly recommend this program. I enjoyed the process and gained a deeper understanding of how UX plays a major role in our everyday life. For more information about this class, click HERE.
